The company’s proprietary StealthSkinÔ technology allows signals to pass through the concealment with minimal loss. Stealth’s solutions to antenna concealment include rooftops, flagpoles, light poles, silos, bell and clock towers and other architectural structures.
08/14/2001 EastCoast Mouldings $1.2 million 20 EastCoast Mouldings is the shipping destination for South American wood products that will be warehoused and distributed to wood products wholesalers. The Charleston facility will operate in concert with a sister manufacturing facility operated by EastCoast Mouldings in Wilkesboro, NC, to complement a new supply chain model being developed by the company.
08/01/2001 Vasocor, Inc. $0.5 million 70 Vasocor, Inc. is presently beta testing a non-invasive product that will allow primary care physicians to assess arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) to help determine a person’s potential for suffering peripheral vascular disease, heart attack or stroke. Walter Rosebrough, President and CEO, stated that the company chose the Charleston region primarily because they knew that they could attract and retain quality employees in the area.
05/07/2001 Acutech Precision Machining, Inc. $2.0 million 16 Acutec Precision Machining, a company that produces high-precision components for aerospace, high technology and industrial applications, broke ground on a new, 20,000-square-foot facility in the St. Stephen Commerce Park. The company, which is headquartered in Pennsylvania, specializes in machining close-tolerance precision machine parts. The company has located here to service Parker Hannifin’s Berkeley County plant in its new, state-of-the-art lean manufacturing approach.
04/04/2001 Corning Cable Systems $23.0 million 75 Corning Cable Systems, one of the industry-leading manufacturers of fiber optic and copper communications network infrastructure solutions, announced plans to expand its Summerville, S.C., coaxial cable manufacturing operations. The company will move from its existing 50,000-square-foot facility to a new building with approximately 250,000 square feet of production space.
02/20/2001 Scientific Research Corp. (SRC) $4.5 million 140 Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) announced a major competitive expansion in the Charleston Region, which will produce more than 140 new high skill jobs and bring $4.5 million in capital investment to the region. The company uses applied research and hands-on operations to develop and improve computing technologies and specializes in system design, rapid prototyping, hardware and software integration, testing, installation and maintenance. Michael L. Watt, President and Chief Executive Officer of SRC cited Charleston’s famed quality of life as a very strong recruiting tool.
02/16/2001 SunCom, a member of the AT&T Wireless Network $13.5 million 275 The Daniel Island Company, the Trammell Crow Company and Brumley, Meyer & Kapp has announced a joint venture to build a 100,000-square-foot SunCom regional headquarters facility for Triton PCS in the Daniel Island Corporate Center. Triton PCS, a leading provider of digital wireless service in the Southeast, markets its services under the brand name SunCom, a member of the AT&T wireless network. The new SunCom center will bring in $13.5 million in new capital investment and 275 new direct jobs.
