Scienceuticals provides custom development, formulation, manufacturing and distribution services to the global cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
07/18/2006 Shimano American Corporation $5 million 15 Within three years of opening its first local distribution center, Shimano expanded into a larger facility to accommodate both its bicycle component and fishing tackle lines. Key factors in the decision: the Port of Charleston, a strong rail and highway infrastructure, and the cooperation of local government.
06/13/2006 Swavelle/Mill Creek Fabrics $0.3 million 60 This leading fabric designer and converter for the global home furnishings market selected the Charleston region for its warehouse operations. The company credits the Port of Charleston with its decision to locate here.
06/06/2006 JW Aluminum $5 million 18 JW announced plans to construct a new facility adjacent to the Berkeley County landfill, using methane gas as a green power source. The homegrown company is a leading producer of specialty, flat-rolled aluminum products used in a variety of consumer and commercial applications.

05/24/2006 American LaFrance, LLC $33 million 200 American LaFrance announced an expansion of its local operations with plans to construct a new, state-of-the-art vehicle fabrication/assembly plant and headquarters complex. Founded in 1832, the company manufactures and distributes a comprehensive line of fire and emergency apparatus.

05/16/2006 A&R Transport, Inc. $0.25 million 25 A global provider of bulk transportation, packaging, distribution and logistics for the plastics industry, A&R selected the region for a warehouse and trucking terminal to serve the growing southeastern market. The company credits the Port of Charleston with its decision to locate here.
