Bourdain Gives Nod to Charleston Food

It’s not everyday that an internationally recognized foodie gives his seal of approval to a small city like Charleston. Yet, that’s exactly what happened during Anthony Bourdain’s interview with Delish, titled “The Most Underrated Food Towns in America”.

During the Q&A, the host of the Travel Channel’s popular No Reservations, noted Charleston as one of the most noteworthy, underrated food towns in the South. Charleston was among 4 cities mentioned by Bourdain, including Minneapolis, Austin and Portland. Bourdain described the Charleston food scene as “ getting really excited and spreading” and specifically noted Sean Brock’s restaurant, Husk, for it’s innovative, modern cooking.

Anthony Bourdain’s endorsement for Husk follows a long list of accolades for the modern, Southern cuisine restaurant. This year, Husk was named “Best New Restaurant in America” by Bon Appétit’s Magazine as well as “Best New Restaurant in the South” by Southern Living. Husk isn’t the only Charleston restaurant in the spotlight either; Restaurants such as Cypress and Jestine’s Kitchen as well as the Firefly distillery on Wadmalaw Island continue to attract locals and foodies from around the world, making Charleston, SC one of the most up and coming food towns in America!
