Did you know that Charleston is home to America’s only liberal arts college dedicated to preserving the traditional building arts? Now, you can learn more about their artisans and their craft at the Masters of the Building Arts Festival on Saturday, March 19.

The American College of the Building Arts is holding this festival “to raise awareness about the school’s mission, to recruit new students and to forge relationships with architects and builders.”

Woodcarver Mary May of Charleston, granite sculptor Clint Button of Boiling Springs, blacksmith Richard Sargent of Vermont, specialty painter Susan Marion of North Carolina and master carpenter Peter Post of Virginia will be present to talk about their craft and demonstrate it for the public. Plus, there will be campus tours for those interested in learning more about the college.

The free festival starts at 10 a.m. at the Old Charleston Jail (21 Magazine St.), and will include campus tours. Read more about the festival on their Facebook page.
