Charleston Folding Kayak Company’s Boat in Green Home

Folbot, the 77-year-old manufacturer of folding kayaks made right here in Charleston, is excited to have one of their boats on display in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry’s Smart Home: Green + Wired, which reopened on March 4. The 2,500 square foot house is on the museum’s grounds and is a fully-functioning, eco-friendly home designed for a “couple looking to minimize home maintenance, maximize efficiency and settle in to a space that not only is beautiful, but functional.” The project is a partnership of Wired Magazine, that advised on the energy efficient technologies included in the home. The house was made from recycled  and renewed materials. Click here to read about all the cool tech features.

Folbot’s Citibot kayak will be hanging in the garage of the green home. The Citibot was designed with city-dwellers in mind, or anyone that lacks storage space, and is lightweight and compact enough to be carried on public transit, stored in the trunk of a car or even carried on as luggage.
