Charleston Hospitality is Great for Business

Last Thursday, the Charleston region hosted a group of 17 colleagues from the international offices of the S.C. Department of Commerce, representing Europe, India, China, and Japan. It’s been my pleasure to work with many of them on active projects, international trade missions, and while representing S.C. and the Charleston region at major trade shows like Hannover Messe, and at air shows in Paris, Farnborough and Singapore. This was the first time the CRDA and our county economic development partners hosted all these international representatives in Charleston. The focus was on getting to know each other better, familiarizing them with our regional assets, and sharing updates about business development activity.

South Carolina’s international offices have been the key to establishing and developing relationships with foreign companies interested in establishing a U.S. presence. In addition to exchanging information and regional updates, getting together was a great way to get to know some amazing people. Economic development is a team sport, and it’s personally and professionally rewarding to me to have such great teammates around the globe.

What better way to get to know each other than by shucking roasted local oysters at Leon Oyster Shop’s new outdoor event space?
Good food. Great atmosphere. And amazing company. Just the way Charleston does business!
