Contest for Teen Chefs

The Art Institute is holding a teen chef competition, and the winner will receive a full tuition scholarship and more! Aspiring chefs will cook a pre-determined menu and will be judged on taste, presentation and culinary technique.

The local cook-off will take place on April 17 at the Charleston location, and the local winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship to the Charleston Art Institute and advance to the National Best Teen Chef Final Round Competition on May 15 in Houston. The Best Teen Chef will win a full-paid scholarship, second place will win a half-paid scholarship and third place will win a quarter-paid scholarship.

High school seniors graduating in 2010 with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA are eligible and must submit a completed entry and release form by Feb. 5 (form can be printed here). Then, submit a recipe (sample standardized recipe form), a current high school transcript, a 250-word essay on why you’d like to study at a culinary arts program at the Art Institute and an optional photo of the recipe.
