Halloween in the Lowcountry

The Charleston City Paper recently compiled a list of Halloween activities happening around town for children and adults. If you’re looking to get spooked before Halloween, there are several options going on now, including:

  • Boone Hall’s Fright Nights: vampire-ridden “Bloodstone Manor,” take a ride on the Body Farm Haunted Hayride, the Fright Stalkers Corn Field, and Psycho Clowns Side Show. Individual tickets for these attractions range from $6 to $10, or you can score an “All You Dare to Scare” pass, letting you enjoy all the attractions for $25.
  • Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch– largest jumping pillow in the state, hay ride, a giant slide tower, a pumpkin patch play area, corn maze. Tickets are $8 on weekdays and $10 on the weekend, all ages. Parents can save some money on Tuesdays with the Two for Tuesday special, letting an adult get in free with a paid child admission. Open throughout the month of October.
  • Johns Island’s Myrtle Maze and Pumpkin Patch– 12-acre maze open each weekend in October. For just $1, enjoy the scarecrow factory, a mini-maze, a farm animal display and more. Plus, check out a nighttime haunted hayride and maze on Oct. 22-23 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
  • Scary’um Aquarium at The South Carolina Aquarium– marine-themed Halloween events (“Animal Enrichment with Pumpkins,” will take place every Sunday), “Fish or Dare” daily dive shows, Shipwreck Tunnel, haunted Camp Carolina, the Scare Cart (get close-up action with owls, snakes, and eels). Plus, kids in costume get $2 off admission. Finish off the month with the annual members-only “Fish or Treat” bash on Oct. 29.
  • Howl-o-Ween: pet costume contest at Mt. Pleasant Towne Centre. Cost is $10 and benefits Pet Helpers, 12:30- 3 p.m. on Oct. 31.
