The newest reality TV show that financially rewards inspired thinking has put another Charlestonian on national TV.

gained an investor in the process. Leslie Haywood, inventor and president of Grill Charms, appeared last week on ABC’s Shark Tank, a reality TV where inventors pitch their product to potential investors.

Like your steak medium rare, but your friend likes hers’ rare? Haywood came up with a solution by inventing Grill Charms, which help identify different spices, tempatures and flavors of items on the grill. Haywood received three offers from investors, but decided to accept $50,000 from one investor in exchange for 25% equity in the company.

According to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s article:

The company currently offers four different collections of charms: Steak Collection, Spicy Collection, Charmed Life Collection and the Pink Collection, which gives 10% of proceeds to breast cancer charities. Each collection retails for $19.95. Grill Charms are available for purchase on the company’s website or at specialty stores across the country as listed on the site.
