By Lindsay Street The Germany-based company will add 45 people to its 40-member work force to accommodate new contracts with Chrysler and General Motors, said Daniel Weber, vice president and chief operating officer. The company expects to hire 25 employees in 2008 and another 20 in 2009. Most of the new hires will be maintenance and skilled workers, shift leaders and quality control personnel, Weber said. The company will add 15,000 square feet to its existing 25,000-square-foot plant in Eastport Industrial Park by the end of 2008. The company said it also plans to acquire up to 10 more acres in the industrial park and further expand its facility by another 40,000 square feet by 2010. Dorchester County Council is preparing to offer the manufacturer several incentives to facilitate the expansion. Albert Weber has had a presence in Dorchester County since 1996 when it purchased Royal Jung Manufacturing and took over its building in Eastport. The company maintained its U.S. location in order to retain access to large automotive companies, according to a company spokeswoman. The company completed an earlier expansion in 2005. |
