Benefitfocus announced that Blue Shield of California has selected the Benefitfocus eEnrollment software technology for its midsize to large groups to use during health care benefits enrollment.

“By giving our clients access to Benefitfocus eEnrollment’s one-thought-per-screen, decision-making procedure, we will be able to transform a formerly complex and complicated system to one that is simple and easy to navigate,” said Paul Markovich, BSC’s senior vice president and CEO for its large group business unit.

Benefitfocus eEnrollment automates the conventional paper-based benefits enrollment via the Internet and streamlines the process for group administrators, brokers, members and carrier representatives.

Benefitfocus — the largest health care benefits software provider serving 117,044 employers and 42 million consumers — plans to open a West Coast office in early 2009.
