Booz Allen Hamilton plans to hire 90 in Charleston after opening new office, buying SPARC in 2015

A year and a half after it bought the software contracting firm SPARC, Booz Allen Hamilton has a new building in Charleston — and plans to hire dozens more workers.

The Virginia-based government contracting giant says it will hire 90 employees over the next year, growing its staff in what’s becoming one of its largest markets. The company has about 310 workers in its software development office in the region.

The expansion will focus on Booz Allen’s software development office on Clements Ferry Road, a business it bought in 2015 from the startup SPARC for nearly $52 million in one of Charleston’s biggest technology acquisitions of the past few years.
