By Daily Journal Staff The center and the foundation each donated $500,000 for the endowed chair. The Charleston-based foundation was established by Countess Alicia Spaulding Paolozzi of New York, a philanthropist, activist, businesswoman and pioneering sportswoman, to support efforts concerning the environment, agricultural sustainability, and issues involving women and the elderly. “The $1 million chair will allow Hollings Cancer Center to recruit an outstanding breast cancer clinician and scientist to find new ways of diagnosing and treating the disease,” said Dr. Andrew S. Kraft, director of the center. |
