Carolina Waterworks expands operations in Charleston region

Dec. 1, 2005
For Immediate Release
December 5, 2005 – Carolina Waterworks, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of products for the marine industry, will expand its Charleston area operation to a 32,000-square-foot building located on Eagle Road in Berkeley County. Company officials expect to be fully relocated to their new, larger facility by the summer of 2007. Today’s announcement was facilitated by the Charleston Regional Development Alliance.

Carolina Waterworks’ product portfolio includes aluminum floating docks, aluminum ramps, marking and mooring buoys, and other marine hardware and accessories. Additional information about the company’s product line can be found at www.carolinawaterworks.com.

Carolina Waterworks will invest $2 million in the expansion and create approximately eight new jobs during its start-up phase. The company, which is currently located at 463 Long Point Road, will recruit locally and train its technically skilled workforce on site. Northern Florida was also considered as an expansion location.

Keith Rogerson, President of Carolina Waterworks, explained the company’s reasons for choosing to expand in the region: “A skilled workforce is necessary to achieve our goals at Carolina Waterworks, and we feel confident we will find that talent in the Charleston region.”

“Competitive expansions such as this prove that our region has the right business climate to support existing industry,” said Bill McCall, Jr., Alliance Chairman. “Local expansions also bring valuable job opportunities to our residents. We thank Carolina Waterworks for their ongoing commitment to the Charleston region.”

Jim Rozier, Berkeley County Supervisor and County Council Chairman, welcomed the company to its new home in Berkeley County. “Thank you, Carolina Waterworks, for choosing to stay and grow in the Charleston region,” he said. “Those of us who live and work in Berkeley County agree that you have picked the right location for this expansion. We stand ready to ensure success for your company and your employees for many years to come.”
