OK, Charleston is not No. 1, at least on the latest study. But there are numerous other surveys that put the Holy City on the highest pedestal.
A new report by New York-based consulting firm Resonance places the city of horse-drawn carriages and cobblestone streets No. 4 on its list of Best Small Cities in the U.S. Up the coast, Myrtle Beach nabbed the No. 9 spot.
Small metro areas are those with populations between 200,000 and 1 million, according to the report. The Charleston region is home to about 776,000 residents as of July 1, 2017, according to the U.S. census. About 420,000 people call the Myrtle Beach area home, according to the report.
