Survey: Charleston tech workers’ pay grows as sector matures

As Charleston’s technology sector continues to come into its own, software companies looking to hire staff are increasingly running into competition from firms outside South Carolina.

Put another way, in a city where tech workers have typically made less than their counterparts elsewhere in the country, employers here may be starting to pay national wages.

That’s one way to read the results of the Charleston Digital Corridor‘s annual survey of the region’s tech wages. Tech workers, it found, are making an average of $88,066 a year, compared to $65,980 last year. And nearly three-quarters of respondents grew their staff this year, about as many as last year.
