CLEMSON — Five graduate programs in the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University are among the nation’s 50 best, according to the 2006 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s guidebook of graduate programs.

Each program was ranked against similar programs at all national doctoral granting universities, public or private. Clemson’s environmental engineering and science program is ranked 20th among the 50 best environmental/environmental health programs in the nation. Industrial engineering earned a spot at number 33 in its category. The biomedical/bioengineering program is ranked at 46, civil engineering at 48 and materials science at 50.

“Having our programs gain recognition in the U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings solidifies our belief in and commitment to offering challenging educational programs and research, devoted to excellence, for the students, faculty and the community at local and national levels,” said Tom Keinath, dean of the College of Engineering and Science.
