Construction commences on new spec. building

Industry opportunities are on the rise in Dorchester County with Friday’s ceremonial groundbreaking of the western end’s first speculative building, a project eight years in the making.

“The dye of job creation is cast,” said County Council Chairman Jay Byars.

He and fellow county officials, along with additional industry leaders across the Lowcountry, gathered at Winding Woods Commerce Park to witness the official start of construction at the site. Located on U.S. 78, the 1,300-acre park is receiving its initial spec building, a 100,000-square-foot facility that county officials have envisioned for years.
