Force Protection receives $52.8 million order for 48 mine-clearing vehicles

Force Protection has received a $52.8 million order from the Army for 48 more Buffalo mine-protected clearance vehicles to be produced at the manufacturer’s location in Ladson.

The vehicles are scheduled to be completed by September 2010 and were ordered by the Army’s Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command division.

The initial order, also for 48 vehicles, was made in July. The company said it expects additional orders under this program and could deliver 100 or more Buffalo vehicles during fiscal 2010.

“Buffalo continues to be one of the most sought-after vehicles on the battlefield and is critically important to route clearance operations in Afghanistan,” said Michael Moody, Force Protection’s CEO. “We are pleased to receive this new delivery order and anticipate continued demand and incremental orders.”
