The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association honored the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau with three Adrian Awards during its annual awards ceremony held Monday in New York City.

The Adrian Awards honor outstanding achievement in advertising, public relations and Web marketing in the travel industry.

The Visitors Bureau won twice in the Marketing Program/Consumer category, receiving a gold and bronze Adrian Award for two campaigns. The association picked the Visitors Bureau for positioning Charleston as a top culinary and year-round destination, respectively.

A Silver Adrian Award also was awarded to the Visitors Bureau in the Feature Placement Print/Consumer Magazine or Newspaper category as the result of an eight-page destination piece, which appeared in the April 2009 issue of ForbesLife magazine.

The HSMAI is a global organization made up of more than 7,000 sales and marketing professionals from 25 countries. It represents all segments of the hospitality industry.

The Adrian Awards is recognized as one of the world’s most prestigious advertising, public relations and Web marketing competitions. This year’s awards attracted more than 1,300 global entries judged by experts from all sectors of the industry.
