Lehigh University to offer graduate programs at Trident Technical CollegeJun. 1, 2001 For Immediate Release
According to Dr. James Brown, director of Distance Education at Lehigh, “This is a unique and exciting endeavor for us to work with Trident Technical College. Currently, we only offer our graduate distance education through corporate partnerships with major companies such as 3M, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Procter & Gamble to name a few, as well as with smaller companies that want their employees to benefit from advanced education. Recognizing the local community’s need for access to graduate programs in science and engineering, TTC approached Lehigh and asked us to consider a new type of partnership. “We were impressed with TTC’s commitment to quality education and its high-tech, state-of-the-art classrooms,” Brown continued. “As a result, we’re delighted to join with them as our first education partner to provide working professional in the greater Charleston area with access to graduate education delivered live via satellite from Lehigh to TTC. The graduate programs are being offered through TTC’s Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development, which offers hundreds of professional development and personal enrichment courses each year on campus, online, via satellite, and at off-campus sites throughout the area. “TTC is very pleased to be the conduit through which Charleston-area engineers and scientists can take advantage of Lehigh’s outstanding graduate technical programs,” said Dr. Wayne Whelan, vice president for Continuing Education and Economic Development at TTC. Lehigh University is a private coeducational institution established in 1865. The university offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degree programs on its 1,600-acre Bethlehem campus, as well as select graduate degree programs at numerous corporate sites via satellite. The university is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. More information about the university is available at lehigh.edu. Free information sessions about the graduate offerings will be held Tuesday, June 19 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Wednesday, June 20 at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and non at TTC’s Continuing Education Center, 2001 Mabeline Road, in North Charleston.
