Moulton Logistics Management announces new facility in Berkeley County

The South Carolina Department of Commerce, Berkeley County and the South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCSPA) today announced that Moulton Logistics Management will locate its new distribution and logistics facility in Berkeley County. The $25 million investment is expected to generate 500 new jobs in the next five years.

“The addition of the new East Coast facility will provide many benefits for our clients including the reduction of freight costs and transit times, which indirectly leads to a reduction in customer service costs and ultimately higher customer satisfaction. Our new facility in Berkeley County not only allows us to ship across the Atlantic, it also puts us closer to customers on the East Coast. South Carolina’s positive business environment and excellent port in Charleston will be important keys to our success on the East Coast. Moulton Logistics, based in Los Angeles, will locate a new distribution center near Charleston in Berkeley County. This strategic location will allow Moulton Logistics to provide access to markets in Europe and across the Atlantic Ocean. The new facility will also better service the company’s East Coast customers by reducing delivery costs and transit times.

Moulton Logistics’ new facility will be located in close proximity to the Port of Charleston. The Port of Charleston is the deepest port in the Southeast and one of the busiest ports among ports located in the Southeast and Gulf coasts. The Charleston Customs district ranks as the nation’s eighth largest in dollar value of international shipments, with more than $62 billion in cargo annually. South Carolina boasts more than 470 warehousing and distribution centers across the state, and these centers employ more than 34,000 individuals in the state.
