Panel to look at economic development plan

A panel discussion next week will focus on Dorchester County’s role to play in the tri-county’s One Region economic development strategy.

John Truluck, director of Dorchester County Economic Development, said the region’s economic development efforts over the past five years have been successful, so this new plan is an update rather than a complete change of direction.

The Charleston Regional Development Alliance and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce gave a first look at the One Region plan in May.

The plan includes economic development efforts, but also looks at the region’s challenges, including housing affordability, infrastructure, income equity and educational opportunities.
