Roper St. Francis recognized among Top 100 Healthcare Systems in U.S.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare was named among the Top 100 Integrated Health Networks in the United States for 2010 by Modern Healthcare.

The print magazine and online source for business news in the health care industry ranked Roper St. Francis No. 46, which puts the health care system in the top 50 for two consecutive years.

Roper St. Francis is one of only four hospital systems in South Carolina to make the Top 100. Others include: Greenville Hospital System (41), Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville (49) and Palmetto Health in Columbia (83).

Included in the Top Five were Sentara in Norfolk, Va.; St. John’s Mercy in St. Louis, Mo.; St. John’s in Springfield, Mo.; MultiCare in Tacoma, Wash.; and Intermountain in Salt Lake City.

For 13 years, the rankings have identified identify the Top 100 IHNs in the current field of 593 non-specialty, local and regional networks in the U.S. that meet specific critical success factors.

The ratings are based on each network’s ability to operate as a unified organization in eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization and physicians.
