The S.C. Research Authority is working with international partners to advance alternative and renewable energy technologies.

The authority signed a deal this month to collaborate with the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Initiative in southern Israel and met with officials in Aqaba, Jordan, to discuss collaborations there as well.

Initial work with Eilat-Eilot will focus on energy production from agricultural waste streams, development of various low input/high yield energy crops and related processes for biofuel production and adaptation of solar energy to provide air conditioning through adsorptive cooling.

Ultimately, the goal is to facilitate the commercialization of new energy technologies in Israel, the United States and elsewhere around the world.

The collaboration could give South Carolina access to international funds through foundations established to promote partnerships between Israel and the United State, the SCRA said.
