Clemson University’s undergraduate business school program cracked the top 50 while the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business came in the top 90, according to BusinessWeek magazine's ranking of "The Best Undergraduate Business Schools."

Clemson's undergraduate business program is 19th among the public, doctoral-granting schools on the list, and 45th on the magazine's list of public and private institutions. USC come in at 53 among public schools and 88 on the list.

BusinessWeek based its rankings on SAT scores, ratio of full-time faculty to students, average class size, the percentage of business majors with internships and the hours students spend each week on schoolwork, along with results of a survey of nearly 80,000 business majors at top schools and a poll of undergraduate recruiters.

The magazine noted that the Darla Moore school’s “core courses are large and crowded, but upper levels are intimate and personal. Students applaud state-of-the-art facilities.”

At Clemson, “professors are friendly and know their stuff. There’s a diverse range of business courses to sample,” the magazine wrote.

"This is an important milestone in the university's quest for top 20 status and a gratifying statement about the quality of our business programs," said David Grigsby, interim dean of Clemson's College of Business and Behavioral Science. "It also is nice to see that our programs are held in high esteem by two important customers—our students and their employers."
