Sailnet launches siteJul. 1, 2001 Charleston Post and Courier
The site hopes to build on last year's success, when during a five-day period the site received more than 90,000 unique visitors. The 2001 site includes updates twice a day from nine boats using satellite phones and an enhanced tracking system on more than 60 boats participating in the event. Saturday marked the 103rd anniversary of the race's founding in 1898 and the 94th running of the event. Visitors to the SailNet site will be able to view all boats, those in one class or just one boat. Visitors also will get the last compass heading, speed and distance to the finish. |
