Trident One Stop Career Center receives top award

The Trident One Stop Career Center has been recognized as the “One Stop of the Year” for 2008 by the South Carolina chapter of International Association of Workforce Professionals.

Each year, the S.C. Chapter of the IAWP recognizes a One Stop career center that provides universal access, customer choice and service integration in an outstanding manner.

From August through December 2008, 67,370 patrons with varying levels of service needs visited the Trident One Stop Career Center in North Charleston seeking help with employment and skills training. In the last fiscal year, Trident One Stop held more than 40 in-house, occupation-specific career fairs for its customers, as well as the general public.

“On behalf of the Trident Workforce Investment Board, I want to thank the Trident One Stop Career System staff and partners for their hard work and commitment to excellence throughout 2008,” said Paul L. Connerty, executive director of the Trident Workforce Investment Board. “The IAWP SC Chapter One Stop of the Year Award is deserving recognition for all you do to make the Trident One Stop Career System one of the best in the state.”

The mission of the Trident Workforce Investment Board is to develop the region’s work force by providing high quality work force development programs and services to its customers. To accomplish this, it created a market driven and user-friendly work force system investing work force funding to recruit, prepare and train workers with the skills needed to support existing industry and attract new industry to the tri-county region.

The Trident One Stop Career Center is located North Charleston, with satellite centers in Moncks Corner, Summerville and Charleston.
