Trident One Stop Career Center Winner of the 2008 International Association of Workforce Professionals

The Trident One Stop Career Center was recognized by the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP), SC Chapter, as the 2008 winner of the “One Stop of the Year Award” for outstanding achievement.

The award was presented at the IAWP Annual Conference on April 23, 2009.

“On behalf of the Trident Workforce Investment Board, I want to thank the Trident One Stop Career System staff and partners for their hard work and commitment to excellence throughout 2008,” said Paul L. Connerty, Executive Director, Trident Workforce Investment Board. “The IAWP SC Chapter One Stop of the Year Award is deserving recognition for all you do to make the Trident One Stop Career System one of the best in the state.”

Each year, the SC Chapter of the IAWP recognizes a one stop career center that “provides universal access, customer choice, and service integration in an outstanding manner”.

The Trident One Stop Career Center (TOSCC) was nominated and selected for this prestigious recognition for outstanding performance in 2008. The award recognizes the TOSCC’s customer service focus, seamless service integration processes, and partnerships within the one stop system.

During the months of August through December 2008, 67,370 patrons with varying levels of service needs came to the TOSCC seeking help with employment and skills training. In the last fiscal year, the TOSCC held over forty in-house occupation specific career fairs for its customers, as well as the general public.

The mission of the Trident Workforce Investment Board (TWIB) is to develop the region’s workforce by providing high quality workforce development programs and services to its customers. To accomplish this mission, it created a market driven and user-friendly workforce system investing workforce funding to recruit, prepare, and train workers with the skills needed to support existing industry and attract new industry to the tri-county region.

The TWIB provides funding for the Trident One Stop Career System. The Trident One Stop Career System is a nationally recognized workforce development system staffed by some of the best trained workforce professionals in the nation. The Trident One Stop Career Center is located at 1930 Hanahan Road in North Charleston. Satellite Centers are located in Moncks Corner, Summerville and Charleston.
