UEC Electronics wins Marine Corps contract for renewable energy systemApr. 20, 2010 Charleston Regional Business Journal
The Ground Renewable Expeditionary Energy Network (GREEN) power distribution system will convert energy sources such as solar and wind to power and provide it to war fighters. The energy can also be stored in high-density batteries until needed. UEC Electronics is one of two companies whose systems designs were chosen to be prototyped and tested for the GREEN power distribution system. If its design is selected as the Marine Corps’ preferred design, a contract for producing 50 more would follow, the company said. The GREEN system could run a range of equipment, such as surveillance cameras and water purifications systems, now powered by generators. UEC Electronics, founded in 1995, offers product design and development, rapid-prototyping, systems engineering, program management, complex assembly and volume production services. |
