Zucker family donates $6M to Trident Tech’s aerospace training center

The Zucker family’s landmark $6 million gift to Trident Technical College isn’t simply a continuation of the Charleston family’s long history of education-based philanthropy, it’s a good investment.

With an aerospace-based manufacturing division among the family’s varied business interests, Wednesday’s gift to enhance the two-year college’s S.C. Aeronautical Training Center could help produce the next generation of engineers and other professionals working at Zucker-owned companies.

“This is a great investment for our family in so many ways,” Anita Zucker, CEO of The InterTech Group Inc., said during an event to announce the donation. “We’re in the business so it’s very meaningful to our workforce. But it’s also extremely meaningful to the community’s workforce. This is an opportunity for all of our children to see what is possible. And I like seeing young people get good jobs, because then they become successful citizens.”
