Charleston-based companies have earned prime spots once again on the Inc. 500/5000 list, the definitive annual ranking of America’s fastest growing companies based on revenue growth. From software to manufacturing, the businesses showcased on the list represent a wide range of industries in our region. Here are just a few of the Lowcountry companies that got Inc.’d this year:

• #1 – Software – SPARC: This software and mobile applications developer ranks as the number one software company on the Inc. list with 12,863% growth over three years and $21.1 million revenue in 2012. With just five employees three years ago, SPARC has announced plans to grow to 500 employees by 2016.

• #20 – Software – Omatic Software: The only nonprofit company to make the Inc. list this year, Omatic ranks 20^th in the software category. Reporting annual revenue of $5 million last year, this Blackbaud Application Partner creates innovative tools that cut costs and time for nearly 1,500 nonprofits around the world.

• #34 – Software – BoomTown: For the third time in a row, this Charleston-based company, was featured in the software category. Growing by 1,058% over three years, BoomTown has excelled by specializing in real estate web marketing—generating more than 4.5 million leads for real estate teams.

• #45 – Manufacturing – UEC Electronics:One of the 74+ aerospace-related businesses in Charleston, UEC Electronics ranks in the top 50 of Inc.’s manufacturing companies in the nation. The company has tripled their revenue in the last three years, by providing innovative products for military, medical, commercial and aerospace customers, such as Boeing.

• #49 – IT Services – Blue Acorn: This eCommerce agency helps retailers and brands sell their products online with a data-driven approach. A one-person operation four years ago, the 34-person company has since tripled in employees and revenue.

In total, Charleston companies account for 15 of the state’s 48 Inc.-listed companies—a testament to our region’s diverse landscape of creative entrepreneurs and innovative companies. We hope to see even more Lowcountry companies growing at record paces next year.
