Essay Contest Winners Will Receive FREE Musical Instruments

Musicorp, a distributor and manufacturer of musical instruments located in North Charleston, is holding an essay contest for middle school students for a chance to win one of five free musical instruments.

The company’s “Passion & Learning for Aspiring Youth Instrument Essay Contest” seeks to encourage Charleston area students to learn how to play an instrument and show the power of music education.

Applicants must answer the following questions in a 150-250 word essay:

  • Which musical instrument would you like to win and why?
  • How will a new musical instrument help you achieve your future goals?
  • Why is education in music important?

Each student also is required to be enrolled or to enroll and participate in a school music program. Contest submissions are ongoing and end Oct. 8. The winners will be announced Oct. 13 and instruments awarded on Oct. 27 at Musicorp Headquarters in North Charleston.

Five winners will be selected and can pick from instruments, like a flute, clarinet, violin, trumpet, snare drum or keyboard. Each winning student will also receive an award certificate and a bag of maintenance kits, books, stands and other small accessories to help them learn and care for their new instrument. Donations are given directly by Musicorp employees and friends to help fund this project. Questions and submissions can be e-mailed to [email protected].
