Said the magazine: “This quiet, pretty suburb of Charleston has much to offer, from great parks to solid schools to rolling bike trails.” With a population around 35,900 and median family income of $60,668, the city also boasts above-average math and reading scores. Judges also weighed household expenditures, crime rates, air quality, job growth, museums, parks, theaters, other amenities, and diversity. Also worth mentioning is the growing corporate base there as Google, Alcoa Mount Holly and others create convenient live/work/play lifestyles.
