Local Artists Put Their Best Portrait Forward

For 12 hours this Saturday, 24 artists will compete for the title of FR3SH Portrait Battle winner. This is the second year for the portrait battle, which will run from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Redux.

This year, artists will be painting models and will have two hours to illustrate any aspect of their model. Artists will paired up randomly to compete in pairs (four rounds) until only one artist remains. Mark Sloan of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art and Robin Berlinsky of Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry will be judging the portrait battle. Plus, the public will have a chance to vote in the finals.
