Software magazine has ranked Blackbaud No. 133 on its list of the world’s 500 largest software and service providers.

The Software 500 list ranks companies by revenue, with Blackbaud’s software and services revenue coming in at $293.8 million and its corporate revenue coming in at $302.5 million.

“Our investment in R&D is unmatched in the sector, and we are pleased to once again be recognized in the Software 500 ranking as the largest software company exclusively focused on nonprofits,” Blackbaud CEO Marc Chardon said.

Total revenue for the Software 500 list was $491.3 billion. That’s an 8.8% increase compared with last year, said John Desmond, Software magazine editor.

This is the 27th year Software magazine has published the list, and Blackbaud has been included since 1997.

The 2009 ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2008, including revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training, and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on total corporate revenue because many have other lines of business, such as hardware.

The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co. and from public documents.
