Force Protection Inc. to debut new vehicle, showcase simulator

Ladson-based Force Protection Inc. will today debut its Joint All-Terrain Modular Mobility Asset vehicle and showcase a Raydon Corp.-owned armored vehicle simulator at a conference in Florida.

JAMMA, which is equipped to handle high speeds while off-road, on highways and through urban terrain, is also the only armor-ready, four-occupant, hybrid, high-performance off-road vehicle that can be transported inside the V-22 Osprey helicopter, the company said.

Force Protection Inc. to debut new vehicle, showcase simulatorThe vehicle will be unveiled and on display at the company’s booth at the Association of the United States Army Institute of Land Warfare’s Winter Symposium, which starts today and runs through Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

One of the vehicle’s features is situation-specific armor system that can be changed by soldiers in the field. The vehicle includes stadium seating that protects the driver while allowing 360-degree return fire and features a hybrid engine.

“The JAMMA vehicle has been designed from the ground up to be the new standard in light tactical vehicles,” Force Protection Chairman and CEO Michael Moody said. “And its light weight, high strength structure provides a wealth of multi-role mission configurations.”

Force Protection also will showcase Raydon Corp.’s Buffalo armored vehicle simulator, a training system that instructs fighters on how to visually detect IEDs and interrogate them using a special arm-crane.
