A pharmaceutical company is transferring its library of 100,000 drug compounds to the Medical University of South Carolina, kicking off a collaborative venture that organizers hope will lead to new discoveries.

Aeterna Zentaris Inc. of Canada said the agreement represents the start of a long-term relationship with the South Carolina Center for Therapeutic Discovery & Development at MUSC.

The Quebec-based development-stage company will continue to have access to the collection for researching and developing potential treatments in the areas of oncology, neurology, endocrinology and women’s health.
