The Mercedes-Benz Vans plant that builds Sprinter commercial vehicles in North Charleston is now home to South Carolina’s first renewable natural gas project on an industrial level.
The company said during an April 26 event that it is using energy provided by Charleston-based GreenGasUSA to maintain building and water temperatures and humidity levels at the van plant’s paint shop. The renewable fuel source is replacing fossil natural gas that was previously used at the Palmetto Commerce Park site.
