Permitting process starts for Charleston County export warehouse

The Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing an environmental permit application for a company that plans to build a $32 million facility to export plastic pellets at 9871 U.S. Highway 78 in Charleston County.

Greenville-based Sea Pac LLC wants permission to place fill material in about 12 acres of wetlands and 4,645 linear feet of streams at the site. The company has offered to purchase 97 wetland credits from mitigation banks and will build a 6,842 linear-foot tributary, within uplands, to maintain offsite drainage and replace the streams that will be filled.
