Spec building will lure manufacturers to upper Dorchester, officials hope

ST. GEORGE — The large, two-tone brown building on the side of U.S. Highway 78 just outside of town limits is a sign that upper Dorchester County is ready to welcome manufacturers, officials said.

And with those businesses will come jobs for area residents.

A ribbon-cutting Thursday marked the completion of the $4 million project, but “the culmination will be when we’re standing here cutting the ribbon with a job creator company that’s bought this building from us,” said John Truluck, economic development director.
