Mt. Pleasant Named “All-America City”

Mount Pleasant was one of 10 winners of the 61st annual All-America City Awards last week, which are given by The National Civic League. The award recognizes places, cities and towns for outstanding civic accomplishments. According to The National Civic League officials, “communities have to demonstrate an ability to address serious challenges with innovative, grassroot strategies that promote civic engagement and cooperation between the public, private and nonprofit sector.”

  • Chandler, Arizona
  • Lynwood, California
  • Rancho Cordova, California
  • North Miami, Florida
  • Acworth, Georgia
  • Des Moines, Iowa
  • Salisbury, Maryland
  • Gastonia, North Carolina
  • Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
  • El Paso, Texas

Charleston won the award in 1977-78. Columbia, Florence, Rock Hill, Hartsville, Aiken, Anderson, Orangeburg, Georgetown, Spartanburg, Greenville and Fort Mill have all won awards previously.
