North Charleston’s Fun Quotient Earns Praise

The re-birth of East Montague has helped make North Charleston famously fun.

What’s it take to be the 23rd most fun city in the nation? Try 128 bars and restaurants, and reasonable mortgages that free up the cash to enjoy them (i.e.: a median home price of $139, 900). That was the upshot of the recent Bloomberg Businessweek ranking of America’s Most Fun, Affordable Cities. Compared to 6,016 other communities, North Chuck emerged a winner thanks to a plethora of locally-owned businesses, family-friendly neighborhoods, parks and other amenities. As third largest city in the state, North Charleston has successfully accommodated a 22.4% population growth in the past decade, according to the 2010 Census.
