In-the-know Charleston chefs have long forged relationships with local growers, fostering a vibrant farm to fork movement. Soon, it will be easier than ever for local restaurateurs, company cafeterias and others to source from local growers. The Coastal Conservation League has announced GrowFood Carolina, a 10,000-square-foot warehouse that will serve as a marketplace for farmers within a 120 mile radius to sell products to local businesses. Opening October 1, the warehouse may one day be open to the public. Til then, watch for more “Fresh on the Menu” – the SC Agriculture department’s official designation – in unexpected places.
