A $28-million contract that Signal Corp. has been given by the Navy to do work on its satellite communications will result in about 30 new jobs at its North Charleston plant.

Signal, a Fairfax, Va.-based information technology and engineering and management services company, was awarded the three-year contract Wednesday to install, maintain, test, evaluate, repair, and support satellite communications.

Signal currently employs 20 people at its Lacross Road plant in North Charleston.
