CHARLESTON, S.C. and TOPEKA, Kan., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ — Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Kansas, a provider of health care coverage and benefit
administration, has selected Benefitfocus(R) eBilling to provide electronic
billing services to its 160,000 subscribers. The agreement adds to the
carrier’s current suite of services with Benefitfocus.com, Inc., coming on top
of its April implementation of BluesEnroll, a Web-based benefit enrollment and
administration solution.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) decided to use Benefitfocus
because of its experience with numerous other Blue plans and carriers. The
software’s ability to seamlessly integrate automated reconciliation with the
current BluesEnroll tool will allow for a highly functional and
straightforward interface for its 12,700 groups. Initial implementation and
roll out of Benefitfocus(R) eBilling will begin in three months with select
large groups, and the carrier expects to achieve 80 percent adoption within 12
months.

Benefitfocus(R) eBilling offers the industry’s most comprehensive and
dynamic electronic invoice presentment and payment (EIPP) application.
Designed specifically for insurance carriers and their customers, eBilling
features three primary components: electronic invoicing, reconciliation and
bill pay. Combining robust capabilities with a simple, intuitive interface,
the application streamlines processes, saves costs and improves cash flow.
Integration with legacy and enrollment systems is its key advantage. This
enables a dynamic flow of data, and as a result, eBilling is the first
application to provide carriers with a complete, full-circle billing process.
By replacing slow, error-prone paper processes, eBilling saves insurers an
estimated $9.50 for every invoice generated, which quickly adds up to
significant ROI. Moving to electronic billing is estimated to reduce
administrative costs by 75 percent, according to global IT research firm,
Gartner.
