Charleston always has been tops in a lot of Charlestonians’ minds, but now the Southeast Tourism Society is recognizing a couple of events here that draw thousands of visitors.

The society has named the Summerville Family YMCA Flowertown Festival and Spoleto Festival USA as Top 20 Events for the months of April, May and June.

The Flowertown Festival is a three-day recreational and cultural event that includes arts, crafts, entertainment, food and other activities. This year’s festival is April 5-7.

Celebrating its 26th year in Charleston, the Spoleto Festival features opera, jazz, theater, dance, literary and visual art from May 24 through June 9.

Through a nomination process, the Southeast Tourism Society chooses the Top 20 events happening each month of the year and publishes the winners quarterly.

The Top 20 Events publication is sent to more than 3,000 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations and others as well as 125 AAA publications
