For the 14th consecutive year, readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine honored Charleston as a Top 10 travel destination in the United States. Charleston earned honors with a high ranking of No. 5, surpassing other popular U.S. destinations like Carmel, Honolulu, Aspen, Seattle and Sedona. San Francisco, Santa Fe, New York City and Chicago topped this year’s list in first four spots, respectively.

In the same category of “Top 100 Mainland U.S. Hotels,” honors went to the John Rutledge House Inn at No. 26, Charleston Place Hotel at No. 51, Harbourview Inn at No. 83 and Planters Inn at No. 88.

Kiawah Island was named the No. 2 island in North America, while The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort was also acclaimed, placing No. 39 in the “Top 50 Mainland U.S. Resorts” category.
