January 1, 2000

The Charleston Regional Development Alliance today named David T. Ginn to replace Ben Cole as its next President and CEO at its regular monthly board meeting. Ginn is currently the Executive Vice President of the Alliance and has served in that capacity since the tri-county business recruiting organization was formed in February of 1995. Cole is leaving the Alliance to join Santee Cooper as Senior Vice President on March 1.

In making the announcement, Alliance Chair Sis Marshall said, “We are obviously going to miss Ben Cole, as under his leadership the Alliance has accomplished more in these past five years than hardly anyone could have imagined. But we are enthused about having David Ginn assume the CEO position, since he has fifteen years of professional economic development experience, and we will be able to have a seamless transition of the organization’s leadership”.

Ginn is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and is a resident of Mt. Pleasant. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to joining the Alliance, he was Executive Director of the Trident Economic Development Authority (TEDA) for two years and served from 1989 to 1993 as Vice President of Sales for the Savannah Economic Development Authority. Prior to his Savannah position, Ginn served as Industrial Marketing Representative for the Atlanta Gas Light Company for three years. Ginn was awarded the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CED) in April of 1997.

He is married to the former Jean Marie Harrington of Dunwoody, Georgia and they have one daughter, Catherine Marie.
