Force Protection, Inc. Enhances In-field Communication Through U.S. Army Web Site

LADSON, S.C.-Leading U.S. armored vehicle manufacturer Force Protection, Inc. (OTCBB:FRPT) today announced it has joined Army Knowledge Online (AKO), an Internet information clearinghouse for approved military personnel and defense contractors, to facilitate communication exchanges concerning its Buffalo and Cougar models – the Buffalo Mine Clearance and Cougar Joint Explosive Ordnance Rapid Response Vehicles (JERRV).

“AKO expedites the transfer of time-sensitive information,” said Force Protection Field Support Manager Michael Bowling. “It serves as a Web portal for approved users to obtain crucial updates on vehicle development. Whether in Baghdad or Boston, this site will empower appropriate parties as they use our blast protection technology.”

The Buffalo and Cougar have been used in active combat operations for more than two years to remove hundreds of suspected explosive threats and transport troops safely across thousands of miles of dangerous roads in Iraq. The timely transfer of information has been necessitated by the U.S. military’s urgent need for more vehicles.

“By posting the Buffalo and Cougar profiles to AKO, we open up an on-line collaborative work center,” said Bowling. “As the vehicles are manufactured and come off the production line, our troops and in-field representatives will receive the latest technical manuals, schematics and training materials. In addition, this will allow a forum for the exchange of suggested improvements and tips for use. The bottom line is our end users will receive immediate solutions, supporting the best use of the vehicles.”

Due to security requirements related to the technology incorporated into the Buffalo and Cougar vehicle series, only approved users will be granted access to the site.
